2020 Ram 1500 vs 2020 GMC Sierra 1500
Don’t be fooled into thinking that just because both the Ram 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 have the same number in their names that they are the same truck. Both do fit into the same class, but they are worlds apart in more ways than one. When it comes to the 2020 model years for each, the differences are rather clear to see. The GMC truck tradition employs more complex visual design and lots of chrome to add shine to its profile. The Ram has more variety in its exterior design, including both throwback and modern designs on different trim levels, and less chrome overall.
On the inside, the GMC Sierra 1500 uses boxy, hard angles with outlines of silver, vertical air vents, and small, subtle buttons on the dashboard. In the Ram world, the 1500 is still somewhat boxy, but balances it with softer angles, a more unified color scheme, and bigger, more integrated controls on the dashboard. When it comes to the engine options and other features, you can review those differences in the following chart.

Between these two trucks, the GMC Sierra 1500 seems to focus a lot more on impressing the people who see it, rather than the people who get to drive and ride inside it. The lowest possible starting MSRP goes to the Sierra 1500, but that only yields an inline 4-cylinder engine, which is practically pointless to have in the large pickup truck vehicle class considering GMC already makes a midsize pickup. The Ram 1500 manages to mix powerful engines with a better average fuel economy to become what is rightfully now, one of the most popular pickup trucks on the road.
A few other features you may find impressive about the Ram 1500 include the following:
- Heated Leather and Wood Steering Wheel with Mounted Transmission, Cruise and Audio Controls
- Electrochromatic Inside Rearview Mirror
- Climate Control
- Turn Signal Mirrors
- Dual-Pane Panoramic Sunroof
- Polished Alloy Wheels
- Hands-Free Entry
- And More!
